By removing the factory-installed UV and IR blocking filters, the sensor becomes sensitive to ultraviolet light (UV), visible light, and infrared light (IR). This makes the camera perfectly suited for creative infrared photography, UV photography, scientific applications, and experimental photography.
Unlike a conventional DSLR camera, the spectral sensitivity is extended to approximately 350–1000 nm. This opens up fascinating possibilities for creative false-color photography, infrared landscapes, technical applications, and multispectral photography.
Depending on the filter used, the camera can be flexibly used for classic daylight photography, infrared photography, UV photography, or astrophotography. The full spectrum modification is particularly popular among photographers who want to create creative landscape shots with surreal colors and dramatic contrasts using various IR filters.
In astrophotography, the full spectrum modification also offers significant advantages. With suitable H-Alpha filters, emission nebulae and other astronomical objects can be captured much better than with a conventional DSLR camera.

Canon EOS 650D Full Spectrum – Special Features
The Canon EOS 650D Full Spectrum impresses with its particularly compact and lightweight design, making it ideal for mobile photography, astrophotography, and smaller camera or telescope setups. Weighing just 525 g, it puts less strain on mounts than larger DSLR models. The proven 18-megapixel CMOS sensor delivers detailed images with pleasantly moderate file sizes, simplifying image processing even on older computers. Thanks to the full spectrum modification, the sensor becomes sensitive to ultraviolet light (UV), visible light, and infrared light (IR), opening up numerous creative and technical possibilities. Particularly practical is the vari-angle display, which allows comfortable work even in difficult positions. This makes the EOS 650D Full Spectrum excellently suited for creative infrared photography, UV photography, experimental false-color photography, and astronomical shots. Thanks to the touchscreen, focus point, zoom view, and menus can be operated particularly easily—a major advantage for night shots, long exposures, and precise focusing on stars. With suitable IR, UV, or H-Alpha filters, the camera can be flexibly used for classic infrared photography, scientific applications, or astrophotography. Especially in astrophotography, the full spectrum modification enables significantly higher sensitivity for emission nebulae and other deep-sky objects than with a conventional DSLR camera. At the same time, the Canon EOS 650D Full Spectrum is one of the most affordable entry-level cameras for creative full spectrum and deep-sky photography.
The Canon EOS 650D is the technically almost identical predecessor to the Canon EOS 700D. Both cameras feature the same 18-megapixel CMOS sensor, the same DIGIC 5 image processor, a swivel and touch display, as well as LiveView with hybrid autofocus. There are practically no differences in terms of image quality, noise behavior, and astrophotography.
After the astro modification, the Canon EOS 650D delivers the same high H-Alpha sensitivity and nearly identical results as the Canon EOS 700D—often at a significantly lower price.
The differences between the two models are limited to minor improvements in the Canon EOS 700D. These include a slightly revised user interface, a somewhat quieter shutter release mode, and minor changes to the body surface. However, these improvements have no significant impact on image quality or performance in astrophotography.
Anyone looking for a high-performance astro camera with an excellent price-performance ratio will find in the Canon EOS 650D virtually the same technology as the Canon EOS 700D—and save money in the process.

Notes on Full Spectrum Modification
By removing all factory-installed blocking filters, the camera becomes sensitive to ultraviolet light (UV), visible light, and infrared light (IR). This opens up a wide range of creative and technical possibilities in astro, infrared, and UV photography. The camera should be used with appropriate filters after modification, depending on whether infrared photography, daylight photography, or astrophotography is desired.
We offer the full spectrum modification in two versions: with sensor protection through a hardened optical clear glass and without sensor protection. Most of our customers opt for the version with sensor protection. In some full spectrum modifications, no clear glass is intentionally used. This allows a minimally larger spectral range to be utilized. However, in this case, the sensitive sensor surface is directly exposed. The microlenses on the sensor are much more sensitive than a protective glass or a lens and react very sensitively to touch or improper cleaning. With this modification, the actual sensor is completely exposed, achieving maximum light yield and highest sensitivity. At the same time, the now exposed sensor surface requires careful handling, especially during sensor cleaning, to avoid scratches on the sensor glass. In the image, you can see the original sensor (1), the fully exposed sensor (2), and the sensor with protective glass (3). After the modification, the Canon captures with significantly higher sensitivity in:
UV range: approx. 320–350 nm
Visible light: approx. 400–700 nm (unchanged, but without artificial limitation by filters)
Infrared range (IR): approx. 700–1000 nm
For normal daylight photography, we recommend a UV/IR-Cut or OWB filter (Original White Balance), which allows for natural color reproduction similar to an unmodified Canon camera.
The package includes an OWB (Original White Balance) clip filter, a 720 nm infrared clip filter, and an 850 nm infrared clip filter for Canon EF lenses. Canon EF-S lenses are not compatible with this filter, as they protrude too far into the camera body due to their design. However, many Canon EF lenses and numerous third-party lenses such as Sigma, Tamron, or Samyang can still be used.
Autofocus and infinity focus remain intact through precise sensor-optical adjustment.
The internal sensor cleaning is not available with this full spectrum modification, as the corresponding original filters are removed.

Note on Lens Selection
For the use of clip filters, we primarily recommend manual lenses, such as M42 lenses in combination with an M42-EOS adapter or Canon EF lenses. Since autofocus often no longer works reliably in infrared photography, manual lenses are often the more practical and also more cost-effective choice.
For landscape shots, lenses such as the Mir-20M 20 mm f/3.5, Super-Takumar 24 mm f/3.5, Canon EF 20 mm f/2.8 USM, or Canon EF 24 mm f/2.8 are suitable.

The camera is in good optical condition and technically 100% flawless. The latest firmware has been installed.
The displayed photos are examples. Due to the used condition, slight optical signs of use may be present. We do not use retouched product photos. The displayed cameras show real devices from our stock. Cleanliness and a well-maintained optical condition are important to us. Therefore, every camera is cleaned during modification. Although these are used cameras, many of our customers are positively surprised by their optical condition, which is reflected in the numerous reviews.
