Professional Repair
of the sensor glass of your Leica M9
in case of corrosion damage and scratches
We replace the damaged filter on the sensor of your Leica camera
This item is exclusively intended for customers from the United Kingdom
Due to customs regulations, the repair must be processed as a “refinement procedure” (customs repair process).
- After placing your order, please provide us with the serial number of your Leica.
- We will issue a pro forma invoice for the full repair price.
- With this invoice, you arrange shipment of your Leica through your postal service or courier.
- When filling out the customs forms, please declare clearly that the camera is being sent to Germany for repair (refinement) and attach the pro forma invoice on the outside of the parcel.
This way, you avoid import duties and VAT on the total value of the camera on our side.
When we return the repaired camera, your local customs office will see that it was sent to Germany for repair. They may then charge duties and VAT only on the repair amount, not on the full value of the Leica.
Because of this customs procedure, the repair price is slightly higher than within the EU.

Sending the camera:
You purchase the item "Leica-M9-Inspection" and send us your Leica M9. We carefully check whether replacing the defective filter is possible.
- Inspection and repair:
In about 9 out of 10 cases, the repair is possible based on our experience. Once we confirm that the repair can be carried out, you purchase the item “Leica-M9-CCD-Repair.” However, if there is a defect (approx. 1 out of 10 cases) that makes the repair uneconomical, we will return the camera to you unrepaired.
Note: The price for “Leica-M9-Inspection” in this case only covers the insured return shipping costs.
Sending the Leica and Repair Time
Please send your Leica well pnacked and sufficiently insured (for the full replacement value of the camera) in neutral packaging, so that it is not recognizable from the outside as a high-value parcel (!). We do not require any accessories or the battery. Please also remember to remove the memory card.
Due to the high technical requirements, the standard processingtmes specified by eBay cannot be applied. In exceptional cases, the repair may take up to 2 months. A more precise estimate is available at any time upon request.
Our Repair Service Includes
- Removal of the defective filter
- Installation of a new corrosion-resistant special filter
- Fine adjustment of the optical properties
- Comprehensive final quality control
- 24 months warranty on the filter glass
Technical background: In many Leica M9 cameras, sensor corrosion appears over time, visible as spots or artifacts on the images. The cause is the decay of the infrared blocking filter above the CCD sensor. Our solution: replacement with durable special glass that preserves the original image quality and color reproduction. We use the BG61 filter glass produced by Schott, whose optical properties are largely compatible with the original M9 filter glass installed by Leica.
Notice: Despite utmost care, there is a small risk that the sensor may be damaged during such sensitive work. In this case, we take full responsibility and provide an equivalent replacement. In other words: we are operating on the “open heart” of your camera and stand by our responsibility for the patient.
Rangefinder Vertical Alignment Calibration
If necessary, we can recalibrate the rangefinder of your Leica. A simple test: focus on a small, high-contrast object while looking through the viewfinder. If, once focused, the two image components appear vertically misaligned, your rangefinder needs adjustment. After sending in your Leica, you will receive our assessment and may order "Leica-M9-CCD-Repair + Rangefinder Calibration".
Camera Leatherette
In addition to sensor repair, we also offer the replacement of the leatherette on your Leica camera, should you wish. Worn or damaged leather parts are replaced with high-quality material to restore an elegant look and secure grip to your camera. We source the material from a German manufacturer and provide it to our customers at a cost contribution of 50 €.
🌍 International Customers:
We accept orders from all over Europe. For orders from non-EU countries, a service fee of €100 applies (for customs processing and higher shipping costs).
